Over the past few years, changes have been made afoot for artist Ethan Cook. While he still has a studio in Greenpoint and commutes there every day, Ethan traded his Clinton Hill perch for a Soho Loft. I really wanted something different when I moved back to Manhattan, and this was the first place I saw when I started Looking,” says Ethan, who had previously lived in Chinatown for over a decade. “I was happy to move and get a change of pace:

The new apartment is a 5th floor walk-up in a six -story building. It’s a pre-skyscraper building with cast iron columns, adds Ethan. It was first a factory and then became an artist’s building. In the living room 3 books swirl along the wall on a Kartell Bookworm

In between living room 1 & 2 the artists sit on a Gaetano Pesce Up7 chair. Ethan deliberately kept the apartment white and lofty, which he says feels “very New York”

In the dining room a plush knife by Al Freeman and an artwork by Knoebel Anima Mundi hang on the wall

Picture 7 In the bedroom Kyle Staver’s painting, Fall, hangs over the bed. A Mario Botta Shogun lamp sits to the left of the bed and a Garry Knox Bennett lamp can be seen to the right

Continuing the whimsy in the bedroom, a Pesce Up5 chair from B&B Italia makes a statement among a design within reach dresser and color block rug by Ethan for Hay.
