I was born a creative person. It was natural, it always felt connected to my soul. I went to art school but didn’t find a way to connect it to my reality.
I stayed connected with my talent through home renovations, holiday decorating and an endless desire to dabble in a variety of crafts.
When I retired, my daughter asked me why I wasn’t focused on what I love. It took the shock of death to precipitate me to doing something, anything to find some semblance of commitment.
I used mostly thrifted boxes while embellishing them with wood pieces, shells, clay, fabric and stamps, mainly rustic finishes. I used the landscapes, the portraits and traditional icons to convey what images they would have left behind.
My artistic journey will continue, will continue, though the vision may evolve. It is a vow I made to myself and my daughters’ memory.
